Natural nail growth with pregnancy hormones

Postpartum nails (Part 2 of 2)
Firstly, pregnancy brings physical beauty mixed with physical challenges. Postpartum brings more physical challenges but in a completely different category. The body will go into healing mode at the same time as nurturing mode. But not the nurturing mode it has been in for 9 months. A new magic stage where your body will produce a milk that will sustain the life of a new born. Alongside nursing the wounds of birth.
With so much happening in your body at the same time, the hormones will change levels. In turn, this will change some of the effects those hormones have on your body. The different levels of hormones will no longer will be producing the same results. Hair, skin and nails will be the 1st to show that the focus is elsewhere.
Hair
The loss of hair will occur due to the lack of hair shedding when pregnant. Once the hormones leave your body the hair loss will commence. Giving a thinner look and potentially creating hair loss sections.
Skin
Skin could become dry or the other end of the scale, oily. All potentially creating pimples, dry patches and other skin related issues to manage.
Nails
Nails may become brittle, causing breakage or chipping. With the dryness there may be new visible ridges in the nail.

Birth
For the big day there is an urge to have a beautiful nail set, to feel fabulous while you go through the journey of child birth. However, if due for surgery on the big day, gel polish, acrylic extensions or polish is not advised. Nail products may interfere with the reading on a pulse oximeter, used to measure the oxygen in your blood. A serious part of your medical care.
Importantly, a self care manicure can be used as a replacement. Oils, creams, cuticle work and a nice file and shape could still provide your hand with the luxury look we all want. Especially when are bodies are out of control.
Postpartum nails (Part 2 of 2) is at look a what differences our beautiful bodies go through. Adapting to the thinking that it’s not all bad changes. We can feel and look confident in any stage of the pregnancy journey.
When it comes to mani/pedi’s with a new born. Skip the urge for full treatments. Opt for just the 2-3 minutes it takes to apply lotion to our hands and feet. Overlooking supple skin anywhere on our bodies is poor judgement. It can make the difference to relaxation in addition to the visual benefits.

Lastly, never should the emotionally changes in postpartum be ignored. There is an abundance of services to help throughout this emotional time. Never suffer in silence, there are communities of people waiting to talk and listen to you.
